Yes, you read that right lads. It’s
still on Part 1. Don’t sigh because Infinity War has its sequel that will be
released – according to Marvel’s cinematic universe project timeline- next year
in May. Be happy because you get to see team Avengers kicking ass again.
Without further ado, here are my thoughts on Infinity War Part 1.
Disclaimer: I am not a
professional movie reviewer nor a Marvel fan. My thoughts are purely based on
my reaction after watching the movie as an audience.

First off, before you watch this
movie I would like to suggest you to read or watch The Avengers, Avengers: Age
of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, Guardians of the Galaxy Part 1 and 2,
Thor: Ragnarok and Black Panther. Or if you have a friend who is an avid fan of
Marvel, go ask her/him to break it down in a simple explanation. But, if you’re
lazy then good luck to you because you will have so many questions after
watching IW Part 1.
Infinity War (IW) Part 1
generally is a movie where team Avengers (it is unfortunate that Hawkeye and
Ant-Man aren’t included) have to fight with a new enemy, Thanos, who wants to
seek the power of 6 infinity stones in order to control the balance of the
universe. In this case is the mass population in each planet. Inevitably, team
Avengers have to gather all their resources in order to stop Thanos. Who’s gonna
win?
If I have to describe my reaction
after watching IW Part 1 it would probably be like this “a very ambitious
crossover movie that is surprisingly enjoyable (and will leave you in distress
if you put too much emotion into it).” With so many casts and its big plot, it
is very understandable that IW Part 1 has more than 2 hours of duration. What
did IW Part 1 make so enjoyable for me that I was willing to sit more than 2
hours long? Action scenes? It could be. Thor’s new hair cut? Steve Rogers’ beard?
Maaayybeee. But that’s not why this movie left a deep impression in me.
Unexpectedly, the reason was Thanos. As a villain character, Thanos in IW Part
1 was well-described. Marvel did a good job in presenting Thanos’ past, his
feelings for his daughter and his perspective regarding the balance of the
universe in the movie. I, as an audience, could understand his reasons of why he
did what he did to the point it was very relatable and made me sympathetic. I
usually only see a villain character that do evil things just for the sake of
her/his own selfishness without having much thoughts on why s/he does those
kind of things. It was refreshing to see that a villain character finally has
the chance to shine and is admired by audience because of the way s/he see
things. The same pattern also happened in Marvel’s previous release, Black
Panther, in portraying Killmonger as a villain character. If Marvel keeps
stepping up their game like this, I don’t mind to spend my money to watch all
their releases.
Well, I think that’s all I want
to say regarding Infinity War Part 1. Based on my opinion above, it is very
expected that I can’t wait for Infinity War Part 2 to release next year. I want
to see how the ending is gonna be. Dear Marvel, don’t make me take back my
words.
